I’m filled with so much optimism that I don’t know if it’s healthy—and I honestly don’t know if I can pass it on to you through these words—but what happened this month is absolutely mesmerizing. I don’t even know where to begin.
In short:
There’s a Bernie Sanders article in The New York Times suggesting not to run as a Democrat.
The New York State Democratic Party Ethics Committee is pushing for the removal of my own corrupt Congressman.
DSA's Zohran Mamdani reached the maximum fundraising cap allowed for a candidate.
Bernie & AOC launched their “Against the Oligarchy” tour.
And we wrapped up petitioning for ballot access in New York State by organizing a support table where candidates could come, ask questions, and stay motivated—especially Joe, who resisted the urge to quit, no matter what the system threw at him.

Let’s start with petitioning
I’ll start with yesterday because it was the culmination of two years of drama to establish oIt was the culmination of two years of drama to establish ourselves as a bonafide Socialist organization in the United States.
The goal of any political movement is to govern. For us—Socialists within the Democratic Party—our mission is to learn the right procedures to get on the ballot and challenge the Liberal establishment at the ballot box.
In New York, the process is deliberately confusing.
Candidates spend hours collecting hundreds or thousands of signatures just for the chance to be on the ballot—only to be disqualified over the smallest mistake.
I spent the whole day managing the Social Democratic table, while our Green and Independent comrades ran the Rep My Block table.
Next year, I hope we’ll have even more people—and maybe even throw a party while building a party.urselves as the bonified Socialist organization in the United States.

Ralph Nader was an activist and failed.
Bernie worked inside the Party—and he almost succeeded.
Donald Trump was a billionaire working inside—and he succeeded.
Michael Bloomberg switched to Republican just to clinch the nomination, succeeded, then won again as an Independent. Now he’s back to being a Democrat.
The label—Republican or Democrat—means nothing to these Liberals.
They’ll use deceit to get what they want. After seven years of deliberately putting myself in situations to observe their tactics, I’ve finally seen how they work—and now, they’ve exposed themselves in spectacular fashion.

The New York County Democratic Party Ethics Committee
One of the people in question is my own Congressman, Adriano Espaillat, who consistently promotes policies that benefit his close associates. I’ve taken it upon myself to call for his removal.
After the shady behavior of several Democratic County leaders in 2021, an Ethics Committee was finally created. The process has been slow—but it’s moving forward.
As members of the County Committee, our job has been to consistently press the issue—by politely pestering the Committee members, asking for updates, and showing sustained interest.
Our comrade Mike Hano called for vote verification in 2023. Laura Thomas demanded a roll call in 2022. And back in 2019, Mike Hano pushed for the simple enforcement of our Bylaws.
The point is this: It is our duty, as Socialists, to unapologetically hold those in power accountable. We don’t need to feel guilty for demanding transparency and rule-following. If they find us annoying, ask them to explain why they think the rules shouldn’t apply.
Now, a sitting Congressman is under scrutiny for suppressing internal Democratic votes during a County Chair election.

The political discourse in New York—and the U.S. more broadly—has reached absurd levels.
Remember when Trump claimed he could shoot someone and get away with it? In 2020, Luigi Mangione actually killed a man in New York City, and society is treating him like a hero.
United Healthcare is part of a system that must be reformed—but at this point, the political theater is so outrageous, we might as well embrace the absurdity. Hence the clown suit.
We are seven Socialists
We’re seven Socialists, and we’ve already proven that we can create real change—as long as we operate inside the major parties.
Now imagine if we were 1,000… or 10,000… inside the Democratic Party, calling ourselves Socialists. Across the U.S., that would be a game-changer.
