On-Boarding Monthly Meeting
The National Online On-Boarding Socialists Meeting takes place on the first Wednesday of every month at 9 PM Eastern / 6 PM Pacific.

The purpose of this meeting is not to cover 146 years of Socialist theory or review the rich history of our movement. Instead, the goal is simple: to introduce the basics of Socialism and explain how we use the consensus-building Ben Franklin Circle Salon model instead of Robert’s Rules of Order.

Pedro Sánchez and the Democratic Party
This month’s newsletter focuses on Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain and President of the Socialist International. During his recent visit to New York, he was widely acclaimed for his socialist vision.
In my campaign speech for Chair of the Manhattan Democratic Party, I referenced the President of the Socialist International and highlighted the positive impact that socialist policies bring to the world.
Although I was not elected to lead the Manhattan Democratic Party because we do not yet have the numbers, we are building for the future. If you know people in Manhattan who would like to become delegates in 2027, please have them email nysol@register.repmyblock.org.

Pedro Sánchez and Columbia University
I live in the neighborhood of Columbia University, and I always find it remarkable that many socialist leaders accept invitations to this “prestigious” institution, despite the fact that it is a poor neighbor to local residents.
Currently, there is an ongoing issue regarding access to a private street—116th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam. We, the local Socialists, support reopening that street to the public. https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/columbia-university-college-walk-footpath-lawsuit.
As Socialists, we understand the importance of local policies and how they shape global policies. It is vital for Socialist leaders to apply in New York the same principles they promote around the world.
Many Socialist leaders don’t realize that New York City, aside from being unaffordable, is home to many proud poor people who will never openly admit they need help. Only through organizations like SDA are we able to convey the true scale of local challenges.

As President of the Socialist International, the honor bestowed on Pedro Sánchez is an honor for all Socialists around the world.
In recognition of his continued commitment to advance the Global Goals, the foundation announced President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez as the winner of its 2025 Global Goalkeeper Award.
